Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17th, 2010

1:00 p.m.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY              C10-285641
On December 17th, 2010 at approximately 3:45 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members attended to a convenience store located in the 400 block of Carlton Street for a robbery that had just occurred. 
 
The investigation has revealed that that a male suspect entered the store, while armed with a knife and approached a 23 year old male clerk, demanding cash. Nothing was obtained the suspect fled the store on foot. 
 
Uniform Officers, including the canine unit attended, however the suspect was able to make good his escape.  
 
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 6'3"- 6'6" with a medium build. 
 
Anyone having information regarding this incident or the suspect is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 986-6219 or Crimestoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
FESTIVE SEASON CHECKSTOP PROGRAM
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST           C10-284707
On December 15th, 2010, shortly before 10:00 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Henderson Highway and McIvor Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 24 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST             C10-284837
On December 16th, 2010, shortly after 2:00 a.m. a male was operating a vehicle in the 1700 block of Henderson Highway when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 22 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST            C10-285362
On December 16th, 2010, shortly before 8:00 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Main Street and Landsdowne Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 62 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST            C10-285493
On December 16th, 2010, shortly after 9:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program observed a visibly intoxicated male approach a vehicle in a parking lot near Jefferson Avenue and McPhillips Street, and cautioned him not to drive. This male then attended to a taxi pick up area located in the lot.
 
Shortly before 10:30 p.m. it is alleged that this same male was observed by officers to enter a vehicle and subsequently pull out of the parking spot.  Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program stopped the vehicle before it could exit the parking lot.
 
As a result of this incident, Thomas Andrew BRATTKUS 46 years, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
 
-          Drive Impaired and
-          Failure to Provide Breath Sample
 
 
 IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST         C10-285435
On December 16th, 2010, shortly after 9:30 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Selkirk Avenue and McGregor Street when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 20 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST             C10-285467
On December 16th, 2010, shortly after 10:00 p.m. a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Arlington Street and Aberdeen Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.
 
As a result of this incident a 51 year old male will be facing charges of Drive Impaired, Failure to Provide Breath Sample and Drive without a Licence.
 
The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid.
 
 
IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST          C10-285627
On December 17th, 2010, shortly before 3:00 a.m. it is alleged that a male was operating his vehicle in the 200 block of Memorial Boulevard when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service.
 
As a result of this incident James Francis ZEBRASKY, 28 years of Winnipeg has been charged with; Drive Impaired and Failure to Provide Breath Sample.
 
 
In addition to the above noted arrests, 11 Alcohol Screening Device- 24 hour suspensions were issued and 2 males were arrested on outstanding warrants.
