Saturday, December 11th, 2010 ROBBERY WITH A FIREARM – ARREST C10-281131 On December 11th, 2010 at approximately 3:30 a.m., uniform members were dispatched to the area of Springfield Road and Rothesay Street regarding a strong-arm robbery involving a taxi cab. The investigation has since revealed that a 32 year old male cab driver was waved down by a male suspect who demanded that he be driven to another location within the city. The driver indicated that he was on route to pick up another fare, but would contact another cab for him. The suspect insisted on being driven and began damaging the interior of the cab. The driver exited the cab and requested that the suspect do the same. The suspect then assaulted the driver. It was at this time the suspect produced a handgun, making verbal threats toward the driver. The suspect eventually fled the area in the cab leaving the driver behind. Attending members located the suspect operating the cab in the area a short time later. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was taken into custody. A 20 year old male is facing numerous weapon related offences, including Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily harm and Impaired Driving. He has been detained. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/279964 On December 9th, 2010, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a male was observed operating a vehicle erratically in the area of Main Street and Rupert Avenue when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crimes Unit. As a result of this incident a 55 year old male faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Prohibited. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/280310 On December 10th, 2010, shortly after 5:30 a.m., a male was operating a stolen vehicle in an erratic manner and collided with another vehicle in the area of Salter Street and Redwood Avenue. Uniform members arrested the 26 year old male at the scene. As a result, the 26 year old male is facing charges of Drive Impaired, Driver Over 80 mg/% and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/280981 On December 10th, 2010, shortly after 11:30 p.m., a male was operating a vehicle which collided into the median crosswalk in the area of Provencher Boulevard and Rue Archibald. The Winnipeg Police Service uniform members arrested an 18 year old male at the scene. As a result, the 18 year old male is facing charges of Drive Impaired and Driver Over 80 mg/%. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/281038 On December 11th, 2010, shortly after 1:00 a.m. a male was observed operating a vehicle in an erratic manner in the area of Henderson Highway and McLeod Avenue. He was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program. As a result of this incident a 20 year old male faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mg/%. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/281056 On December 11th, 2010, shortly after 1:30 a.m., a male was observed operating a vehicle in an erratic manner in the area of Speers Road and was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program. As a result of this incident a 31 year old male faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mg/%. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/281067 On December 11th, 2010, at approximately 1:50 a.m., a male was observed operating a vehicle in the area of Bond Street and Pandora Avenue and was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program. As a result of this incident a 45 year old male faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mg/%. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/280800 On December 10th, 2010, at approximately 6:50 p.m., a male was observed operating a vehicle that collided with a snow bank in the area of Grant Avenue and Lindsay Street. Uniform members attended the scene and arrested the 53 year old male. As a result of this incident a 53 year old male faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mg/% and Drive Prohibited. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST – C10/280921 On December 11th, 2010, shortly after 1:00 a.m., a male was observed operating a vehicle the area of Scott Street and Wardlaw Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program. As a result of this incident a 29 year old male faces charges of Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mg/% and Drive without Licence. The male's name will be released once formal charges are laid. Overnight statistics 5 – Alcohol Screening Device Warnings - 24 hour suspensions issued.
