HELICOPTER LAUNCH
Please be advised that the pre-acceptance evaluation of the helicopter at Eurocopter Canada Limited, in Fort Erie, Ontario is now complete. As a result, the helicopter is currently on route to Winnipeg, Manitoba. 
 
A media event will take place on Monday, December 6th 2010 at Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg 17 Wing located at Whytewold Road.
 
Members of the media are expected to be in attendance by 10:30 a.m. at which time further instructions will be provided. Press credentials/identification will be required.
 
Further details regarding the event will be provided in the coming days.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARREST C10-274051
On December 1, 2010 at approximately 2:45 p.m., uniform members responded to a commercial robbery at a convenience store located in the 600 block of Ellice Avenue.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 26 year old male allegedly attended to a location in the 400 block of Sargent Avenue armed with an axe. While at this location the suspect proceeded to smash windows and cause a disturbance. The suspect eventually fled the area in a pickup truck.
 
The suspect then attended to a convenience store in the 600 block of Ellice Avenue. Once at this location, the suspect still armed with the axe confronted a 56 year old female employee. It was at this time the suspect slammed the axe onto the front counter while demanding cash and merchandise. The suspect fled the area empty handed while still armed with an axe.
 
After exiting the store, the suspect approached a parked vehicle and began striking its windows several times causing significant damage. He again fled the area in a pick up truck.
 
The suspect, while operating a pick up truck northbound on Arlington Street approaching Logan Avenue collided with a Toyota Corolla. The suspect made no effort to stop after the collision occurred and fled northbound on Arlington Street.
 
At approximately 3:00 p.m., members located the suspect vehicle in the area of the Arlington Street Bridge. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
 
Adam Quinn LANGAN, 26 years has been charged with: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Robbery with Intent, Mischief Under $5000.00 x 2, and Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and exchanged particulars (HTA).   
 
He remains in custody.
 
 
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY C10-274351
On December 2, 2010 at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers were notified of a strong-arm robbery which had occurred earlier in the area of Roblin Boulevard and Dale Boulevard.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 19 year old male victim was confronted by two male suspects while walking to a convenience store in the area. The victim was assaulted to the upper body with a baseball bat causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
 
When the victim regained consciousness, he noticed that his property was missing which included: a cellular phone, jewellery and cash.
 
The victim required medical attention as a result of the incident.
 
The suspects are described as: Males, one being approximately 6'2" tall, both wearing balaclavas.
 
Suspect vehicle: a small silver car.  
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 6 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-2877 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
