ARSON ARREST C12-125001
On June 29, 2012, at approximately 12:25 a.m., East District uniform patrol members responded to a garage fire in the area of the first 100 block of Sawchuk Bay. Further information provided indicated that a male suspect was being held for police by area residents.
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspect had attended to the area and set fire to a garage situated in a rear lane. The suspect then broke into a truck parked nearby and began removing property.
 
It was at this time the owner and another area resident observed and apprehended the male suspect. He was held until police arrived.
 
The investigation continued at which time further information came to light regarding a previous arson related incident dating back to June 14, 2012. It was determined that the suspect allegedly set fire to a fence and garage in same area.
 
As a result of the investigative efforts by officers involved, an 18 year old male is facing the following charges:
 
* Arson – Damage to Property x 3
 
* Theft Under $5000.00
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
