Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

ARSON  –  ARREST                        C12-114420
On Friday, June 15, 2012 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Emergency Responders attended to the area of the first 100 block of Heaton Avenue regarding a fire.
 
The investigation revealed that a lone male suspect attended to this business location and set fire to the contents in a garbage receptacle. The suspect who was still at the location fled when police arrived. The suspect was immediately arrested a short distance away from the incident.
 
Damage is estimated at $600.00 dollars.
 
Michael Berend BOWMAN, 19 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with:
 
  • Arson – Damage to Property
  • Breach of Probation
  • Failure to Comply with Sentence
 
BOWMAN was detained in custody.
 
 
ARSON – ARREST                         C12-114466
On Friday, June 15, 2012 at approximately 10:25 p.m., Emergency Responders attended the area of the 300 block of Anderson Avenue for the report of a vehicle fire.
 
The investigation revealed that a lone male attended to this location and entered a parked vehicle. While inside the vehicle the male set a fire and immediately fled the area.
 
Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $2000.00 dollars.
 
Responding officers searched the area and located the male in the area of Magnus Avenue and Aikins Street.
 
John Wayne YOUNG, 39 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with:
 
  • Arson – Damage to Property
  • Fail to Comply Conditions of Undertaking
 
YOUNG was detained in custody.
 

BODY LOCATED IN RIVER         C12-114018
As previously released - On Friday, June 15, 2012 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Emergency Responders attended to the east side of the Red River just south of the North Perimeter Bridge, for a report of a body that was located in the river.
 
The investigation is in its early stages and is continuing. The gender or age of the deceased has not been confirmed.  More information will be released pending results of an autopsy.
