SEXUAL ASSAULT – ARREST             C12-114822
On Saturday, June 16, 2012 at approximately 8:25 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue for the report of a sexual assault.
 
The investigation revealed that a 28 year old female victim while walking in the area was approached by a male from behind. The male groped the victim and attempted to push her in a nearby shrub area. The victim was able to flee from the location to safety and contacted police.
 
The investigation lead responding officers to an address in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue, where a 19 year old male was located, arrested and taken into custody a short time after the incident occurred.
 
The male has been charged with sexual assault and was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
Investigators believe this male may be responsible for other such related incidents. Police are asking anyone that has experienced a similar incident of being groped by a male riding a bike in the area of Main Street and Redwood Avenue or Portage Avenue and Ingersoll Street, to please contact the Sex Crimes Unit at 204-986-9625.
 
The male suspect is described as: Caucasian, 19 year old, approximately 6'3" tall, 235 pounds, heavy build, dark brown short hair. The male was riding a bike at the time of the incidents.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204.786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
INDECENT ACT                 C12-114913
On Saturday, June 16, 2012 at approximately 12:25 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 300 block of St. Annes Road regarding an indecent act.
 
The investigation revealed that a 58 year old female was in the area of St. Annes Road and Poplarwood Avenue waiting for a transit bus. A male walking in the area observed the victim and walked towards her while he was indecently exposed.
 
The male fled from the area. The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.
 
The male suspect is described as a Caucasian, approximately 40-45 years old, 6'0" tall with blonde hair.

FIRE INVESTIGATION                  C12-115455
On Sunday, June 17, 2012 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Emergency Responders attended to the area of the 200 block of McIntosh Avenue for the report of a residential fire.
 
Damage is estimated at $132,000. No one was injured as a result of this incident as the house was vacant at the time of incident.
 
The cause of fire is undetermined at this time and the investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.
