WEAPONS & DRUG SEIZURE – ARRESTS
C12-105644
On Monday, June 4, 2012 at approximately 11:36 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue regarding a report of a firearm incident.
 
The investigation revealed that two males were seen entering this location armed with a firearm. Uniform Police members and the Winnipeg Police Tactical Support Team attended to the Pritchard Avenue address and as the incident unfolded, police observed a firearm and drugs at the location. Police at this time arrested and took into custody the following males that were in attendance this this location. They were arrested for weapons and drug related offences. 
 
  • Kyle Cory Scott SIMMONS, 19 years of Winnipeg
  • Kenneth Roger THOMAS, 25 years of Winnipeg
  • Male, 18 years of Winnipeg
  • Male, 21 years of Winnipeg
  • Male, 26 years of Winnipeg
  • 14 year old male youth
 
At 12:08 p.m., on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, a search warrant for drugs and a search warrant for firearms were granted and executed at the location.
 
  • The following items were located:
  • One (1) Semi- Automatic Rifle
  • Two (2) Loaded Magazines
  • Approximate 300 Ecstasy Pills
  • Two (2) Weigh Scales  
 
SIMMONS was charged with: six (6) Weapon related offences, Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking, Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance X4.
SIMONS was detained in custody.
 
THOMAS was charged with: seven (7) Weapon related offences and Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking.
THOMAS was detained in custody.
 
The 18 year old male was charged with: seven (7) Weapon related offences and Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
The 21 year old male was charged with: six (6) Weapon related offences, Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking and Breach of Probation. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
The 26 year old male was charged with: six (6) Weapon related offences, Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking and Breach of Probation. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
A 14 year old male was charged with: six (6) Weapon related offences and Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Organized Crime Unit.
 
 
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT                  C12-105335
On Monday, June 4, 2012 at approximately 3:50 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a sexual assault that occurred in the area of St. Mary's Road and Hull Avenue.
 
The investigation revealed that at an 18 year old female victim was walking in the area of St. Mary's and Hull Avenue, when an unknown male approached her from behind and placed his arms around her. The male then took a hold of the victim wrist and attempted to push her and uttered threats to harm the victim. The victim summoned help from a passer-by at which time the suspect fled the area.
 
The victim was not physically injured as a result of this incident.
 
The male suspect is described as: Asian in appearance, approximately 25-30 years old, 5'2" tall, wearing beige long sleeve shirt, baseball hat, possibly beige coloured pants and carrying a backpack.

SEXUAL ASSAULT                  C12-105408
On Monday, June 4, 2012 at 5:34 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a sexual assault that occurred in the area of Autumnwood Drive and Cottonwood Road.
 
The investigation revealed that a 14 year old female was in the area of Autumnwood Drive at Cottonwood Road, when an unknown male approached her and attempted to initiate a conversation with her. The male proceeded to touch the victim on her upper body at which time the victim was able to distance herself from the male. The victim left the area and called the police.
 
The victim was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
 
The male suspect is described as: Asian in appearance, approximately 30 years old, 5'7", skinny build, wearing white baseball hat, white button up long sleeve shirt, jeans, white/blue running shoes, carrying a white backpack with blue strips along top.

SEXUAL ASSAULT               R120028724
On March 26, 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service took the report of a sexual assault that occurred at Osborne Street and Stradbrook Avenue.
 
The investigation revealed that on March 26, 2012 at approximately 5:00 p.m. an 18 year old female was waiting at a bus stop near Osborne Street and Stradbrook Avenue, when she was approached by a male, who had been drinking in a bus shack. The male asked the female for a cigarette and when refused the suspect groped the victim.
 
The victim was not physically injured as a result of this incident.
 
The following is a composite drawing of the male suspect.
 
 
 
Description: Aboriginal in appearance, male, late 30's to early 40's. One side of the face seemed swollen, pock marks on face and nose, wearing dark clothing and a dark baseball hat.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 16 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
