SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION C12-92872
In May, 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a serious sexual assault incident which occurred in the area of the Disraeli Bridge involving a 35 year old female victim.
 
On May 14, 2012, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the victim was walking over the Disraeli Bridge towards the downtown area when she observed two males. The suspects confronted the victim taking her by the arm to a darkened area on the north side of the bridge.
 
The victim was then pushed to the ground at which time a serious sexual assault occurred. A short time later a vehicle and four occupants drove by scaring the suspects off. The occupants of the vehicle stopped and provided the victim assistance.
 
The suspects are described as follows:
 
#1 – Race unknown, 25-30 years of age, 175 lbs., 5'11" tall, medium build, hair in a ponytail to the back of neck, wearing a baseball cap with a flat peak, black sweater with a white shirt underneath and carrying a black backpack.
 
#2 – Goatee, 6'00" tall, thick build, 210 lbs., shaved head, wearing a black or blue sweater and black pants.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crime Unit.
 
Investigators are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
Investigators are also asking that the occupants of the vehicle who assisted the victim to contact police immediately.
 
 
INDECENT ACT C12-100894
On May 30, 2012, at approximately 10:25 a.m., officers responded to the area of the 1200 block of Grant Avenue regarding the report of an indecent act.
 
Attending members were advised that an area resident had observed a male in a grassed area exposing himself while performing an indecent act. As a result police were summoned.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
  • Caucasian, in his 40's, 5'9" tall, large build, wearing a black baseball cap and black hoodie.

BREAK AND ENTER – ARREST C12-102400
On June 1, 2012, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a break and enter incident to a garage located in the 500 block of Cathedral Avenue.
 
The investigation has revealed that a garage window was smashed and entry was gained. Once inside, the windows to a vehicle were smashed setting off the car alarm. As a result, the suspect was scared off. Prior to fleeing, the suspect stole a bike and an electronic device from within the vehicle.
 
Members of the WPS Canine Unit responded and attempted a track.
 
At approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Flight Operations Unit, Air1 attended and directed officers on the ground to the suspect in a parking lot near McGregor Street and Machray Avenue. He was arrested and the stolen bike was recovered.
 
An 18 year old male is facing several charges, some of which include: Break and Enter, Theft Under $5000.00, Possess Property Obtained by Crime and Mischief Under $5000.00.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
