STRONGARM  ROBBERY                   C12-95189
On May 22, 2012 at 9:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police Members responded to a strongarm robbery that took place in the 100 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
 
The investigation revealed that a 90 year old female victim attended to this location and entered the inside lobby area of the building.  An unknown male who was in the inside lobby prior to the victim's arrival entered the elevator with the victim, at which time he grabbed her purse and fled from the building.
 
The female was not physically injured as a result of this incident.
 
The male suspect described as: Caucasian, 20-25 years old, slim medium build, clean shaven, clear complexion; wearing a beige baseball cap and a beige wind breaker jacket.
 
Winnipeg Police Service released information about a similar incident that took place on June 4, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Aikins Street.
 
The investigation revealed that an 81 year old female victim attended to this location and upon entering the front entrance she was confronted by a male who was in the entrance prior to the her arrival. The male suspect grabbed the victim's purse causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect then fled from the area with the victim's purse.
 
The victim sustained injuries to her upper body.
 
The suspect in this incident is described as a: Caucasian male, approximately 25-35 years old, 5'10" tall, slim build, short light coloured hair.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service reminds the public to be aware of personal safety to and from home, and be cautious in allowing unknown persons to follow or enter a secured building you attend.

COMMERCIAL BREAK-IN – ARREST               C12-107353
On Thursday, June 7, 2012 at approximately 12:30 a.m., General Patrol Members of the Winnipeg Police Service and the Flight Operations Unit responded to a commercial break-in, in the 2300 block of Main Street.
 
The investigation revealed that a male suspect attended to a building and gained entrance by breaking a window causing approximately $500 damage. The commercial alarm trigged and the suspect fled from the location.
 
General Patrol Members and the Flight Operations Unit immediately attended and searched the area. The Flight Operations Unit observed the male in the vicinity and directed the General Patrol Members to the location of the male, at which time he was arrested and taken into custody.
 
Jamie Frederick FONTAINE, 37 years of Pine Falls, Manitoba has been charged with Break, Enter with Intent to Commit and Indictable Offence. FONTAINE was detained in custody.
 
 
DRUG SEIZURE AND ARRESTS           R12-50789
On Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to the first 100 block of Meadow Lake Drive regarding the execution of a drug search warrant.
 
As a result of an on-going investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit, a search warrant was granted and subsequently executed at this location. The following were seized as a result:
 
  • 165 Cannabis Marihuana Plants – Estimated street value of $184,800.
  • Canadian Currency - $1400
  • Grow Equipment - valued at $7500  
 
A 32 year old female and a 51 year old male of Winnipeg have been charged with:
 
  • Production of Cannabis Marihuana
  • Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis Marihuana
  • Possess Proceeds of Crime
Both were released on Promise to Appear.
