Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  Friday, October 28th, 2011

STABBING                            C11-226798
On October 28th, 2011 shortly after 2:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members met with a 19 year old female who indicated that she had been robbed as she was walking in the area of Main Street and Stella Avenue.
 
As a result of the investigation, officers learned that the victim was approached by an unknown male who requested a cigarette.  When the victim indicated she did not have any cigarettes the suspect proceeded to physically assault the victim, knocking her to the ground.  Assorted personal property was taken from the victim before the suspect fled the area. 
 
It was not until after the incident had occurred that the victim realized that she had been stabbed.  The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition for injuries to her upper body.
 
The suspect is described as: 
 
- Aboriginal male, approximately 18 to 19 years of age with short black hair    
 
This investigation is ongoing. 
 
 
 
COMMERICAL ROBBERY                    C11-226796
On October 28th, 2011 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to a convenience store within the 400 block of Edison Avenue for a robbery that had just occurred. 
 
Upon arrival officers learned that a lone male suspect, armed with two knives, entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes from two employees.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the store. 
 
The suspect is described as: 
 
- Aboriginal male approximately 5'10" tall, with a husky build.  He was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. 
 
There were no reported injuries. 
 
Anyone who has any information regarding this incident or the suspect is asked to contact investigators from the Major Crimes Unit at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
