Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

 
 
COMMERCIAL AIRLINE DIVERTED – ARREST C11-225140
On October 25th, 2011, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a Commercial Airline, with 148 passengers on board, was en-route from Edmonton, Alberta to Toronto, Ontario when a male passenger became unruly.
 
The investigation has revealed that the male appeared intoxicated, and refused direction from crew members. He subsequently attempted to light a cigarette while on board when a female crew member attempted to intervene. His aggressive and belligerent behaviour continued at which time the cabin crew restrained the male to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
 
As a result of the incident, the Commercial Airline elected to divert to the Winnipeg James Richardson International Airport.
 
Upon landing, members of the Winnipeg Police Service met with crew members and placed the male under arrest.
 
Byron PINKSEN, 41 years of Grand Prairie, Albertahas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
·        Damaging or interfering with navigation facility
·        Cause Disturbance
·        Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
·        Mischief Endangering Life
·        Interference with crew member
·        Consuming liquor other than provided by aircraft operator
 
He was detained.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS C11-224674
On October 25th, 2011, at approximately 3:30 a.m., uniform patrol members, including members of the Canine Unit responded to a commercial robbery incident at a convenience store located in the 400 block of Springfield Road.
 
It has been determined that two male suspects entered the business, indicating they were armed with a gun. The 26 year old male clerk was threatened and an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
Due to the efforts of all officers involved, and after a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were located and arrested in the area of the 1400 block of Rothesay Street. A recovery of the stolen property was made.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
 
Corey Andrew ROULETTE, 31 years has been charged with the following offences as a result of his alleged involvement: Robbery with theft, Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking.
 
Robert Jonathan MAYO, 28 years has been charged with Robbery with theft as a result of his alleged involvement.
 
They were detained.
 
 
SHOTS C11-225409
On October 26th, 2011, at approximately 5:10 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the sound of shots in the area of the 600 block of Sherbrook Street.
 
Attending member's located evidence to support a fire discharge occurred, however no injuries were reported.
 
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
SHOTS C11-225410
On October 26th, 2011, at approximately 5:25 a.m., officers responded to the area of the 300 block of Thames Avenue regarding the sound of shots in the area. Evidence to support a firearm discharge took place, however no injuries were reported.
 
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
