COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARREST C11-216736
Between October 12th and October 13th, 2011, members of the Winnipeg Police Service became involved in several commercial robbery investigations.
 
On October 12th, 2011, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a 13 year old male and 10 year old male attended to a convenience store located in the 700 block of Mountain Avenue in attempt to commit a robbery. The 13 year old male concealed his identity while armed with a canister of bear spray. The suspects fled empty handed.
 
On the same date, at approximately 10:10 p.m., the two suspects attended to a discount store located in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue. Again, the 13 year old suspect concealed his identity while still armed with a canister of bear spray, confronted the store clerk. Cash was demanded and undisclosed amount was received. Both suspects fled.
 
On October 13th, 2011, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the 13 year old lone suspect attended to a grocery store located in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue. As in the previous robberies, the suspect concealed his identity and was armed. The suspect initially forced entry into the business, due to the front door being locked. Once inside, the suspect began removing cash from the till when the female clerk let her dog off his leash. The suspect discharged the bear spray in the direction of the clerk and her dog causing minor injuries. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.  
 
Uniform Patrol members attended to the area, eventually locating the suspect and placing him under arrest.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. As a result, the 10 year old male suspect was also identified.
 
The 13 year old male suspect has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon x 3, Wear Disguise with Intent x 3 and Fail to Comply with Condition of an Undertaking x 7. He was detained.
 
The 10 year old male cannot be charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS C11-217772
On October 15th, 2011, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Uniform Patrol members responded to an attempt robbery incident at a convenience store located in the 3500 block of Roblin Boulevard.
 
The investigation has revealed that a male and female suspect attended to the business while armed with a knife and confronted a male employee. During the incident, the suspects were scared off as a result of a vehicle entering the parking lot. They fled empty handed.    
 
Due to the efforts of officers involved, the suspects were located at a residence nearby and arrested.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. An adult male and female are facing robbery related offences.
 
They remain in custody.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-217820
On October 15th, 2011, at approximately 5:15 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a commercial robbery at a convenience store located in the 900 block of Archibald Street.
 
It has been determined that two male suspects, while concealing their identities and armed with a knife entered the business. Both suspects attended behind the store counter demanding cigarettes and other merchandise. The 46 year old male employee was not injured during the incident.
 
The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of property. They are described as: Males, Caucasian, 25-30 years of age, 5'8"-5'9" tall, with medium builds.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
