Winnipeg Police Service News Release

BRIAN SINCLAIR INVESTIGATION- UPDATE     R10-28006
The Winnipeg Police Service has concluded its investigation surrounding the circumstance that resulted in the death of Mr. Brian Sinclair, in September 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre.
 
During the investigation, investigators received full cooperation from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the staff at the Health Sciences Centre. 
 
This file has been sent to Manitoba Justice, (Prosecutions Branch), for an opinion from a Crown Attorney.  This is a unique case with unusual circumstances and a legal opinion is required to determine if charges should be laid or not.
 
 
FIRE INVESTIGATION                        C11-221081
On Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 just before 9:30 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to a working fire at a business located in the 1st 100 block of Point Douglas Avenue. 
 
Upon arrival, officers and fire crews observed a building to be fully engulfed in flames. 
 
Damage estimates are not available at this time however it is anticipated to be a significant loss.
 
Fire crews continue to work at suppressing the fire at this time. 
 
Fire investigators and members of the Arson Strike Force will be continuing with this investigation.  A cause of the fire has not yet been determined. 
  
Roadways within the area have since been re-opened.
