Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  Sunday, October 30th, 2011

1:00 p.m.
 
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION- UPDATE     C11-227666
As previously released, on October 29th, 2011 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were dispatched to the area of Rorie Street and McDermot Avenue for the sound of shots being fired.
 
Upon arrival, responding officers located an injured adult male in the area of the 1st 100 block of Arthur Street. Paramedics attended and transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition where he has since succumbed to his injuries.  The victim has been identified as Oudy PHRAKONEKHAM, 20 years of Winnipeg.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim was a passenger within a vehicle in the area of Rorie Street and McDermot Avenue when a firearm discharge occurred.   This vehicle left the area and travelled a short distance before stopping within the 1st 100 block of Arthur Street where police and paramedics where summoned. 
 
This investigation is continuing.  Anyone who has any information regarding this incident or the suspect(s) is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
MALE SHOT                                    C11-228043
On Saturday, October 29th, 2011 just after 4:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were dispatched to the area of Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street for reports of the sound of shots being fired and a male shot. 
 
Upon arrival officers located an injured youth male.  Paramedics attended and transported the male to the hospital in critical condition. 
 
The 14 year old male victim has since been upgraded to critical, stable condition. 
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON              C11-228365
On October 30th, 2011 at approximately 1:10 a.m. emergency services personnel were called to a business in the 500 block of Portage Avenue for a report of a male that was stabbed. 
 
Upon arrival officers located a 21 year old male who had sustained stab wounds to his upper body.  Paramedics transported the victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.
 
At this point, the investigation has revealed that while inside a night club, an altercation occurred between the victim and a male that was known to him, resulting in the victim being stabbed.     
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.  Anyone who has any information regarding the incident or the suspect is asked to call 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
SHOTS FIRED- HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION       C11-228497
On October 30th, 2011 at approximately 4:40 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to a hotel parking lot within the 1000 block of McPhillips Street for a report of shots being fired. 
 
Upon arrival officers located an injured adult male.  Paramedics transported the male victim to the hospital in critical condition where he has since succumbed to his injuries. 
 
This investigation is continuing.
