PUBLIC EVENT CELEBRATING THE START OF THE 2011/12 NHL SEASON
 
On Thursday, October 6th, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., a celebration of the start of the 2011/2012 NHL Season and the return of the Winnipeg Jets will take place at "The Forks."
 
There will be a significant police presence at this event to insure the safety of all present. The Winnipeg Police Service will be on hand to assist members of the public and will enforce any breach of Provincial or Federal statutes including the Liquor Control Act.
 
Our goal is to insure that this exciting event is a positive experience for all in attendance.  
 
 
TASERTM ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICE LOST          R11-95473
Sometime during the evening hours of Tuesday, October 4th, 2011, a holstered Taser electronic control device became dislodged and separated from a uniform patrol members service duty belt while on duty in Division #13 (Northwest Winnipeg). The electronic control device with an attached cartridge as well as the holster is missing. Efforts are ongoing to locate the device.   
 
 
 
Should this device be located by a member of the public, please contact police immediately.
 
  
SUSPICIOUS PERSON – PUBLIC ADVISORY C11-209843
On October 4th, 2011, at approximately 11:44 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a suspicious person incident which took place in the area of Agnes Street and Ellice Avenue.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 10 year old female had been walking in the area at approximately 9:30 a.m. when she observed a van following her. She continued to walk in attempt to evade the lone occupant of the van.
 
The suspect eventually exited the vehicle and confronted the victim, demanding that she get into the van. The victim subsequently ran home and advised a parent as to what had taken place.
 
The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.
 
The suspect vehicle is described as a: White cargo style van, muddy and dirty with rust.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 40-50 years of age, 5'6"-5'7" in height, heavy build and brown eyes.
 
Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
