Winnipeg Police Service News Release

SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT           C11-213891
On Friday, October 7th, 2011 at approximately midnight a 25 year old female victim was walking in the area of 100 block of Main Street when she met two unknown males. 
 
One of the males showed the victim a handgun, while the second suspect produced a knife.  The victim was taken to an area nearby where a serious sexual assault occurred. 
 
The victim attended to the hospital where police were notified and entered into an investigation.  The following is a description of the suspects:
 
Suspect #1:  Aboriginal male, approximately 30 years old, 6'4" tall with a medium build and short/ shaved hair.  The suspect was wearing black clothing and had a scar under his right eye.  He was carrying a black handgun.
 
Suspect #2:  Aboriginal male, approximately 6'0" tall with a thin build, light coloured hair and green eyes.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON- ARREST       C11-214417
On October 10th, 2011 shortly before 1:30 p.m. an adult male in the vicinity of York Avenue and Main Street approached a 41 year old male victim who was exiting a restaurant and began to physically assault him about the upper body.  A 20 year old male who witnessed the assault attended to the victim and attempted to intervene.  When confronted by this concerned passerby, the suspect male produced a knife and stabbed the 20 year old victim in the torso area. 
 
An off duty Winnipeg Police Service officer witnessed the commotion and stopped to assist.  The suspect male turned his attention toward the officer and began threatening him with the knife.  The officer notified police and emergency personnel of the situation. 
 
The 20 year old male victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition. 
 
Attending uniform members located and arrested the suspect male in the area of Waterfront Drive and York Avenue.
 
Christ King KENNEDY, 43 years of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and assault for his alleged involvement in this incident. 
 
He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
