Winnipeg Police Service News Release

SEXUAL EXPLOITATION- ARREST       R11-76639
On Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Sex Crimes Unit entered into an investigation regarding a teenage victim who had allegedly been the victim of sexual assault by a 39 year old male.
 
The investigation has revealed that between May 2009 and May 2011, a number of sexual offences were committed against the victim by this male.  The victim and the male are known to each other through organized activities.
 
During the afternoon hours of Thursday, August 11th, 2011 a search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Niakwa Road and St. Anne's Road where a suspect male was arrested without incident. 
 
Stuart Garrett YOUNG, 39 years, of Winnipeg has been charged with Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Assault.
 
The Sex Crimes Unit is continuing with this investigation.   
 
 
 
FIRE INVESTIGATIONS          C11-173025/ 172971/ 173025
On Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 during the early morning hours, emergency services personnel responded to three separate and unrelated working fires throughout the city. 
 
- At approximately 12:40 a.m., a garage located in the 1200 block of Dominion Street.   
 
Damage to the garage, which included two vehicles and various tools, is estimated to be in excess of $75,000. 
 
- Just before 1:30 a.m., a residence within the 2200 block of Burrows Avenue. 
 
The homeowner extinguished the fire, which caused an estimated $200 in damages. 
 
- At approximately 4:50 a.m. at a City of Winnipeg yards area located at Plessis Road and Raveston Avenue West.
 
Damage to a shed and the contents is estimated at $20,000. 
 
During these incidents, there were no reported injured.
 
Members of the Arson Strike Force are continuing with these investigations.
