Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 

 
STABBING INVESTIGATION – ARREST C11-178251
On August 23rd, 2011 at approximately 11:20 p.m., Uniform members responded to the area of the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue regarding a fight incident.
 
Attending members learned that an altercation had erupted between a male and female, when a 22 year old male intervened. The 22 year old male and 17 year old male then became involved in a physical altercation. The 17 year old subsequently armed himself with a knife and proceeded to stab the 22 year old to the upper body.
 
Area residents observed the confrontation and contacted police. Officers located the injured male at which time he was transported to hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to critical but stable condition.
 
A 17 year old male was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Sentence Order. He was detained.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS C11-177738
On August 23rd, 2011 at approximately 6:45 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a restaurant in the 2800 block of Pembina Highway regarding a commercial robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that at approximately 4:00 a.m., a male and female suspect forced entry into a residence located in the first 100 block of Demers Place. A variety of items were stolen and the suspects fled the area.
 
On the same date at approximately 6:40 a.m., the two suspects attended to the 2800 block of Pembina Highway at which time the female suspect entered a business while armed with a can of bear spray. The male suspect remained nearby.
  
The female suspect confronted an employee and deployed the bear spray. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen before the suspects fled.
 
Members of the Canine Unit also attended to the area at which time they began tracking the suspects. Due to their efforts, including Uniform members, both suspects were located and placed under arrest.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
Evan Anthony Darryl MALLET, 20 years and Autumn Eliza Katherine MUCHIKEKWANAPE, 18 years have been charged with a variety of offences including: Robbery with a Weapon and Break and Enter, Theft a Dwelling House as a result of their alleged involvement.
 
They were detained.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-178211
On August 23rd, 2011 at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were summoned to attend a convenience store located in the 200 block of Watt Street regarding a commercial robbery.
 
Attending members learned that two armed male suspects entered the business and confronted a 21 year old male employee. As a result, the employee was assaulted to the upper body causing injury.
 
The suspect eventually flee empty handed.
 
The victim was conveyed to hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-178224
On August 23rd, 2011, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a business located in the 700 block of McPhillips Street for a commercial robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that two armed male suspects attended to the business and confronted a 24 year old male employee. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. No one was injured during the incident.
 
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
