ASSAULT INVESTIGATION UPDATE                               C11-159689
As previously reported, on Saturday, July 30th, 2011 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to an apartment within the 300 block of Kennedy Street for a report of an injured male who had been seriously assaulted.
 
The victim in this incident has passed away. Winnipeg Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.
 
WEAPON ARREST                                                               C11-162043
On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Winnipeg Police responded to the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of an Assault with Weapon call. The information received was that a 2 month old infant had been sprayed with pepper spray.
 
Upon arrival it was determined that the infant had been sprayed by a 2 year old sibling, who was also suffering from the effects of the spray. Both children were conveyed to hospital by ambulance where they were treated and released.
 
The investigation determined that a can of bear-spray had been left in a bedroom within the residence within reach of the children.
 
As a result a 36 year old female of Winnipeg was charged with:
 
·        Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace                           
·        Possess Firearm etc. while Prohibited x 2
·        Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
 
She was detained in custody.
 
FIRE INVESTIGATIONS                                             C11-162274/290
On Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a fire in the 800 block of Alverstone Street. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage to the property in the amount of $1,000. There were no injuries. The Arson Strike Force is investigating.
 
Also on Wednesday, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a fire in the 800 block of McDermot Avenue. There were no injuries and damage is estimated to be $150,000. The Arson Strike Force is investigating.
 
ASSAULT ARREST                                                    C11-162104
On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011 at approximately 9:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report that a Winnipeg Transit driver had been assaulted. A passenger exiting a bus at Main Street and Pioneer Avenue struck the driver in the upper body. The driver was treated at hospital and released.
 
The accused was located a few blocks away with assistance of patrolling Cadet members and was arrested by Uniform Police members.
 
Vincent Glen PRINCE, 48 years was charged with Assault. He was detained at the Provincial Remand Center.
