Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Thursday, August 11th, 2011 

 
WEAPON ARREST C11-168264
On August 11th, 2011 at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a weapon related incident in the area of Lagimodiere Boulevard and Regent Avenue West.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 22 year old male suspect approached a male (17 years) and female (41 years) victim outside a business located in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West and requested a cigarette. The victims declined when the suspect offered to purchase a cigarette from them. Again, the victims refused the male at which time the suspect produced a shotgun which had been concealed in his waistband. Both victims, fearing for their safety fled into the nearby restaurant. The suspect remained outside at which time a firearm discharge took place. No one was injured and police were summoned.
 
Attending members observed the suspect walking in the area of Regent Avenue West and Stapon Road while still in possession of the weapon. It was at this time the suspect was effectively and safely placed under arrest. The shotgun, ammunition, including alcohol was located and seized.
 
Clifford Elliot ANDERSON, 22 years has been charged with numerous firearm related offences including Robbery with a Firearm x 2.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
ARSON ARRESTS C11-167533
On August 10th, 2011 at approximately 3:00 p.m., uniform members responded to a fire incident which was observed by an area resident located in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.
 
It has since been learned that three males, 16 years, 13 years and 10 years of age attended to the rear lane of the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue while in possession of a Molotov cocktail. The three males proceeded to pile wood inside an empty garage, subsequently igniting the cocktail, causing the bottle to explode and the wood to catch fire.
 
The three suspects fled the area and police were notified.
 
Attending members entered into an investigation and eventually located the three suspects in the area.
 
The 16 year old and 13 year old have been charged with: Arson-Damage to Property and Possession Incendiary Material.
 
They have been detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
