MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING CYCLIST – HIT AND RUN C11-174811
On August 19th, 2011 at approximately 1:55 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Mountain Avenue and McGregor Street regarding a serious motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist. Attending members learned that the suspect vehicle had since fled the area.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 53 year old male cyclist had been travelling eastbound on Mountain Avenue near McGregor Street when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle turning south onto McGregor Street. After the collision, the suspect vehicle failed to remain at the scene. 
 
The cyclist was conveyed to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information regarding the suspect vehicle to contact investigators at 986-6271.
