UPDATE - HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION - ARRESTS C12-125121
As previously released, on June 29, 2012, at approximately 4:45 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 200 block of Machray Avenue regarding an injured male being located.
 
At the time, the male was observed to have sustained serious upper body injuries and was listed in critical condition. The victim was identified as: Braden BJORNSON, 20 years who later succumbed to the injuries sustained.
 
The investigation revealed that on June 29, 2012 at approximately 1:50 a.m. the deceased and two males came into contact in the area of Machray Avenue and Charles Street, at which time a verbal altercation took place. The male suspects assaulted the deceased by striking him in the upper body with a metal object and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the deceased. The suspects fled from the area at this time.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit commenced an investigation, and as a result   on July 12, 2012 at approximately 1:35 p.m., located the following male suspect in the 800 block of Magnus Avenue. The male was arrested and taken into custody. 
 
Keagan Denzel DICK, 18 year old of Winnipeg has been charged with Manslaughter. He was detained in custody.
 
In the early evening of July 13, 2012 the second male suspect; a 15 year old male was located and arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in a northern community in Manitoba. Members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit attended and took custody of the male returning him to Winnipeg. 
 
A 15 year old male has been charged with Manslaughter and Breach of Probation.  He was detained in custody.
