SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION           C12-138025
On July 15, 2012, at approximately 8:45 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service, including other emergency personnel responded to the area of Portage Avenue near Berry Street due to a serious motor vehicle collision.
 
The investigation has revealed that the driver of a GMC Acadia was travelling eastbound on Portage Avenue at a high rate of speed. A second vehicle, identified as a Honda Accord was stopped for a red light travelling in the same direction. Due to the actions of the driver of the GMC Acadia, the Honda was struck from behind causing it to flip onto its side. The GMC Acadia came to rest against a wall of a nearby business.
 
The driver of the Honda Accord, a 42 year old male was listed in serious but stable condition. The driver of the GMC Acadia, a 21 year old male and occupant sustained minor injuries.
 
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
 
 
STABBING – ARRESTS                 C12-138495
On July 16, 2012, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue as a result of a stabbing incident.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that an altercation took place at a house party involving two male suspects and a 29 year old male victim. The victim was stabbed to the upper body and is listed in stable condition.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 13 Crime Unit. Two male suspects are currently in police custody and are facing charges.
  
 
FIRE                         C12-137999
On July 15, 2012, at approximately 7:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 100 block of Helmsdale Avenue due to a working garage fire.
 
Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $55,000.00.
 
Investigators are looking into the possibility that two discarded couches were deliberately set on fire which ultimately spread to a nearby garage.    
 
Members of the Arson Strike Force have been notified. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
INDECENT ACT                          C12-136726
On July 13, 2012, at approximately 9:40 p.m., a 44 year old female victim observed an unknown male performing an indecent act near a garbage bin located in the 2300 block of Pembina Highway.
 
The victim yelled out and the male suspect fled the area on foot. Officers attended however the suspect was not located.   
 
He is described as:
 
  • Male
  • 35-40 years old
  • 5'9" tall
  • Medium build
  • Dark complexion
  • Balding with short hair on the sides
  • Wearing: a dark muscle shirt, dark navy pants and running shoes
