RESIDENTIAL ROBBERY – C12-140858
On Thursday, July 19, 2012 at approximately 4:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Young Street in regards to a residential robbery. 

The investigation has revealed that the lone 53 year old female resident had awoken to see a male suspect coming in through the living room window. The unknown suspect assaulted the resident and fled with some property.
 
The female victim sustained minor injuries.
 
The male suspect is described as:
 
Aboriginal in appearance, 30 years, 5'9", medium build, short scruffy dark hair, possible slight facial hair, wearing a black t-shirt and black pants.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 786-TIPS (8477)
 
 
WEAPON ARRESTS – C12-140890
On Thursday, July 19, 2012 at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Canine Unit, Community Support unit and General Patrol members executed a Search Warrant in the 400 block of Agnes Street.
 
The following items were located and seized:
 
  • Two .22 calibre sawed off rifles
  • One revolver muzzle loader
  • Bear spray
  • 137 round of .22 calibre ammunition
  • 19 rounds of 9mm ammunition
  • Pepper spray
  • Two pipe bombs
  • Cash register (stolen)
 Arrested within the residence was Christian Abraham BOYD, 21 years, Devvin James WORTHINGTON, 20 years along with a 20 year old female.
 
BOYD, WORTHINGTON and the twenty year old female have been charged with numerous firearm offences.
 
BOYD and WORTHINGTON were detained in custody.
 
The twenty year old female was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL MAIL BOX THEFTS – C12-140390
Sometime between 5:00 p.m. on July 17, 2012 & 6:00 a.m. on July 18, 2012 several of the individual mailboxes in the community based mailbox module located in the first block of Apple Hill Rd were broken into.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 6 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens that if you know that you will be away for an extended period of time, please make arrangements to have your mail forwarded, picked up or stopped during that time. Sensitive and valuable personal information is often sent via mail and can be used to facilitate other fraud related crimes.
 
 
FREE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION CLINIC
The Winnipeg Police Service Vehicle Inspection Section in conjunction with Manitoba Public Insurance Standards and Technologies will be offering a free motor vehicle inspection clinic. This event will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Manitoba Public Insurance Service Centre, 420 Pembina Highway. 
 
As a Public Service they will provide a vehicle safety inspection and an informational check sheet but will not issue offence notices or do any follow-up for re-inspects for defects or infractions.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service, including our partners in the transportation industry is committed to promoting safety for all motorists using the streets and highways throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba.
 
Due to the large number of vehicles in attendance during the previous Vehicle Safety Inspection Clinic, the number of Inspectors will be increased in order to decrease wait times.
