Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

DRUG ARRESTS               R12-102712
On Thursday, July 12 at approximately 9:55 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) attended to the 500 block of Madison Street regarding the execution of a drug search warrant.
 
As a result of an on-going joint investigation between the Department of Justice Public Safety Investigation Unit (Safe Neighbourhood), Winnipeg Police Service Green Team, WPS Vice Unit, WPS Division 12 Community Support Unit and WPS Tactical Support Team, a drug search warrant was granted and subsequently executed at this location. 
 
Attending officers located two male suspects inside the location along with a sophisticated Marihuana Grow Operation. The males were arrested and taken into custody.
 
The following were seized as a result of the executed search warrant:
 
  • 987 Marihuana Plants – estimated street value $1,105,440.00
  • 8 - one pound bags of Marihuana – estimated street value $20,000.00
  • Grow Operation Equipment valued at $65,000.00
 
Garry Reid SCHINDLE, 62 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with:
  • Production of Controlled Substance – Cannabis (Marihuana)
  • Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis (Marihuana)
 
Devron Theodore LEE, 36 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with:
  • Production of Controlled Substance – Cannabis (Marihuana)
  • Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis (Marihuana
 
Both Accused were released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK-IN      C12-135263
On Thursday, July 12, 2012 at approximately 10:35 a.m., Winnipeg Police Central Reporting Unit member, attended to the area of the 400 block of De La Moranie Street regarding a residential break-in.
 
The investigation revealed that sometime between Wednesday, July 11, 2012 and Thursday, July 12, 2012 suspect(s) broke into the residence and stole several items including the following items:
 
  • 300 Tylenol 3
  • 300 Oxycocet
  • Two (2) black bear rugs
  • Taxidermy Animals: Silver Fox, Red Fox, Fisher, Martin
 
The Winnipeg Police Service reminds the public that taking large quantities of the Tylenol 3 or the Oxycocet alone or in combination with other drugs or alcohol could be dangerous to your health or fatal.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 14 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2857 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477)
 
 
FIRE  INVESTIGATION       C12-36785
On Friday, July, 13, 2012 at approximately 11:10 p.m., emergency responders attended to the area of the 100 block of Euclid Avenue regarding a residential fire in a multi-unit building.
 
Damage is estimated at $450,000 dollars. All tenants were evacuated from the building safely and no none was injured as a result of the incident.
 
The cause of fire is undetermined at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.
 
  
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY           C12-136679
On Friday, July 13, 2012 at approximately 8:10 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 700 block of Mountain Avenue regarding a commercial robbery of a convenience store.
 
The investigation revealed that a male suspect entered the store and approached the lone 49 year old male employee. The suspect retrieved an undisclosed amount of cigarettes and fled from the location.
 
The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 30 years old, 6'0" tall with a large build.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477)
