COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS
C12-143449
On Sunday, July 22, 2012 at approximately 1:55 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 1000 block of Henderson Highway for the report of a commercial robbery of a convenience store.
 
The investigation revealed that two male suspects attended to the convenience store and approached the lone 34 year old male employee. The suspects demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes and fled from the store.
 
The victim did not sustain injuries as a result of the incident.
 
Responding General Patrol Officers, Canine Unit and the Flight Operations Unit immediately searched the area for suspects. With the assistance of the Canine Unit and Flight Operations Unit, the suspects were located shortly thereafter in the surrounding area.
 
A 39 year old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery and had been detained in custody.
 
A 59 year old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery and has been detained in custody.
 
 
COMMERCIAL BREAK AND ENTER – ARREST

On Saturday, July 21, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 1000 block of Logan Avenue regarding a commercial break and enter.
 
The investigation revealed that between Saturday, July 14 and Saturday, July 21 a male attended to a business in the 1000 block of Logan Avenue and broke into the fenced compound. While in the compound, the male attended to several vehicles and using a reciprocating saw, stole several catalytic converters from the vehicles. The male fled the location on a scooter.
 
The investigation continued by Division 11 General Patrol Officers and as a result the male was located in the area of Sargent Avenue and Maryland Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. operating a dark coloured scooter. The male was arrested and taken into custody.
 
Shane Charles CORLETT, 43 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:
 
  • Break, Enter a place – commit Indictable offence
  • Possession Break In Instrument
  • Personation with Intent
 
CORLETT was detained in custody.
 
 
ARSON ARREST -         C12-140718
On Thursday, July 19, 2012, at approximately 1:25 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 800 block of College Avenue regarding a garbage bin fire.
 
The investigation revealed that on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at approximately 11:00 p.m., a female suspect attended to the area of the rear lane of the 800 block of Boyd Avenue and set fire to the content in a garbage bin. The fire was extinguished prior to it spreading to nearby property.
 
The Arson Strike Force continued the investigation and with the assistance of Division 13 General Patrol Members, identified the female suspect.
 
On Friday, July 20, 2012, members of the Arson Strike Force located the 46 year old female suspect in the area of the 800 block of Boyd Avenue, at which time she was arrested and taken into custody.
 
She has been charged with Arson – Damage to Property Under $5000  
 
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION         C12-143558
On Sunday, July 22, 2012 at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency responders, attended to the area of the 500 block of Furby Street regarding an injured adult female.
 
The female has succumbed to her injuries. The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has been assigned and is now in its initial stages of investigating this incident. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
