ATTEMPTED MURDER – ARRESTS

On July 7, 2012, at approximately 8:40 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the rear of the 500 block of Spence Street to check the wellbeing of a person located in a garbage bin.
 
Officers, including members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service located a male within a garbage bin suffering from multiple injuries in critical condition.
 
The investigation revealed that the 23 year old male victim was in the company of several individuals when an altercation occurred. The victim was assaulted and sustained serious upper body injuries. After the assault, the victim was placed in a nearby garbage collection bin. The suspects fled the area and emergency services were notified by a passer-by.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
At approximately 11:30 p.m., investigators located and arrested a 17 year old male in the same area where the assault took place. He was charged with Attempted Murder, Breach Probation and Warrant – Fail to Report. The male was detained in custody.
 
On Sunday, July 8, 2012 at approximately 8:30 a.m., investigators attended to the area of Spence Street where a second suspect was located and arrested. A 15 year old female has been charged with Attempted Murder. She was detained in custody.
 
On Monday, July 9, 2012 at approximately 1:50 p.m., investigators attended to the area of Spence Street where the third suspect was located and arrested. A 17 year old male has been charged with Attempted Murder. He was detained in custody.
 
Due to the diligent efforts of General Patrol Members and Division 11 Crime Unit Investigators, all three suspects in the matter have been located, arrested and detained.
