Suspicious Circumstances - Deceased Infants Located Update – Arrest – C14-224401
As previously reported, on October 20, 2014 at approximately 1:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of McPhillips Street for the report of suspicious circumstances.
 
Human remains, believed to be four infants were located within a rented storage unit.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Child Abuse Unit.  The contract holder of the storage unit was identified and arrested outside a residence in the Maples area for her alleged involvement.
 
Autopsies are on-going.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that six infants were located within the storage locker. 
 
Andrea GIESBRECHT, 40 years of Winnipeg, who has also used the name Andrea NAWORYNSKI, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Concealing Body Of Child x 6
  • Breach Probation

She was detained in custody.
 
A lengthy forensic examination and analysis expected to be months in duration has begun.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Child Abuse Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-3296 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Threat Investigation Update - Arrest – C14-225038
On October 20, 2014 shortly after 8:00 p.m. an unknown male called 911 reporting that a shooting had occurred in the area of Powers Street and Machray Avenue.  Several units, including AIR1 and the Tactical Support Team responded however no evidence of a shooting was located.
 
As previously reported on October 21st, shortly before 9:30 a.m. a male contacted 911 stating that armed males had entered a school in the 400 block of Church Avenue.
 
Several units, including the Tactical Support Team, attended and searched the school and area with negative results.
 
Later that morning the male made an additional 911 call indicating that a shooting was about to occur at a school in the 400 block of Andrews Street.  Several units again attended to the area however the call was determined to be unfounded.
 
Officers continued with the investigation and were able to locate and arrest a suspect without incident in the 400 block of Powers Street.
 
Members of the District 3 Crime Unit continued with the investigation and were able to link the suspect to the incident from October 20.
 
A 25 year old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of Public Mischief x 2 for his alleged involvement.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
