Mischief Arrest – C14-218819
On October 13, 2014 at approximately 1:00 a.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a suspicious male in the 1st 100 block of Arden Avenue.  Information provided was that the male had been observed breaking into vehicles and was currently being held for police.
 
Upon arrival, members took custody of the male.  It was learned that the suspect had broken into the apartments' underground parking garage and then damaged the windows of 12 vehicles, stealing property from two of them.  The caretaker of the block, with the assistance of another person, was able to apprehend the suspect. 
 
Members of the East District Crime Unit continued with the investigation which revealed that the suspect was responsible for a similar incident that had occurred shortly before he was apprehended.  In that incident, the suspect broke into an underground parking garage in the 100 block of Pulberry Street.  Sixteen vehicles were damaged and property was stolen from one of them.
 
Total damage is estimated at $30,000.00.
 
Sean Mark O'HANDLEY, 37 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following for his alleged involvement:

  • Break Enter & Commit – Dwelling House x 2
  • Mischief Under $5000.00 x 28
  • Theft Under $5000.00 x 3
  • Possession of Break In Instruments

He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
