The City of Winnipeg's fall cleanup of streets will begin Sunday evening, October 26, 2014, weather permitting, and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. Activities involve removing debris and leaves that collect on the street during the fall season. Areas of Winnipeg where the accumulation of leaves is particularly heavy will be targeted.
Temporary "no parking" signs will be placed in advance in some areas where parked cars would hinder the cleanup operation. When these signs are in place, motorists are encouraged to find alternate parking during the posted times to avoid being ticketed or towed.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution around cleanup crews and heavy equipment which will be operating throughout the city over the coming weeks.
Citizens are cautioned not to rake yard waste material or other debris onto streets or to place yard waste material into manholes or ditches. This can plug drains which increases the risk of basement flooding and contravenes one or more City By-Laws.
