SEARCH WARRANT ARREST UPDATE – C13-190698
As previously released, on September 19, 2013 at approximately 3:30 a.m., investigators from the Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of members of the Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant and Firearms search warrant at a residence within the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.
 
A male who exited the residence prior to the warrant being executed and a second male located within the residence at the time of warrant execution were arrested without incident.
 
A search of the residence resulted in the following items being seized:

  • .410 break action shotgun
  • Bolt Action 7mm rifle
  • Colt .45 calibre semi-automatic handgun
  • Ammunition
  • 130 Tylenol 3 pills
  • Various prescription medications
  • $270.00 in Canadian currency

The investigation continued by members of the Street Crime Unit and on January 8, 2014 Raymond Allen THERRIEN 60 years of Winnipeg was arrested for his alleged involvement.  He has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 3
  • Breach of Firearms Regulations x 3
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 3
  • Possessing substance for Purpose of Trafficking – OTHER

He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY UPDATE - ARRESTS – C13-267865
As previously released, on December 30, 2013 at approximately 9:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of a commercial robbery at a restaurant in the 1000 block of St. Mary's Road.
 
Responding members met with employees who advised that two males with their identities concealed had entered the store.  Once at the counter one of the males ordered some food.  When the clerk opened the till the second male sprayed her with a noxious substance while the first male grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the till.  Both suspects then fled on foot.
 
The 17 year old clerk was treated for non- life threatening injuries.  The second employee was not injured.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit who were able to identify the suspects.
 
On January 8, 2014 two 17 year old males from Winnipeg were arrested for their alleged involvement.
 
Both have been charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent and Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon. 
 
They were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

 

STOLEN VEHICLE ARRESTS – R14-001445
On January 8, 2014 shortly after noon the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of suspicious youths in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street.

Several units including general patrol, stolen auto and Canine converged on the area and 5 youths were located and arrested without incident.

Investigation has revealed that in the early morning hours a blue 2004 Toyota RAV4 had been stolen in Selkirk by two of the accused.  The two then picked up the other three youths in the stolen vehicle.

Between 9:00 am and 11:50 am the five accused attended to the 1100 block of Leila Ave at which time one of the accused stole a brown 2002 Toyota Corolla.  The Corolla was later abandoned at a gas bar after the accused had been unable to restart the car.

 

A short time later the five accused attended to a shopping centre in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street and broke into a 2001 Toyota Corolla with the intent to steal it.  It was this incident that was witnessed by a passerby who contacted police.

 

Five male youths, aged 13, 14 & 15 (3) are facing multiple charges for their alleged involvement.

 

The 14 year old and one of the 15 year olds were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

 

The three others were released via Promises to Appear.
