WPS Endowment Fund Aims to Improve Our Communities   As part of our ongoing efforts to create a renewed culture of safety in our community, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is pleased to announce the creation of the WPS Endowment Fund.   Established through the Winnipeg Foundation, which will be responsible for the administration and management of the fund, with the oversight of a committee comprised of WPS members, this fund will enable programs that assist at-risk and underserved children, youths and their families, to apply for funds.   "This endowment fund gives the Winnipeg Police Service another way to reach out into the community and strengthen its relationship with citizens," said Mayor Katz. "The grants provided through this fund will make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth and families, and ultimately benefit the entire city."   "As Police Service members, we have a unique perspective on our community and some of its greatest needs", said Chief Devon Clunis. "Aside from enforcement, however, we are somewhat limited in our ability to address these gaps.   "This fund will provide a means to contribute to recognized community projects that support the Service's vision of creating a culture of safety."   Donations to the fund are now being accepted.   "For more than 90 years, The Winnipeg Foundation has been working together with community groups and agencies, just like WPS, to make our city a better place to live, work and play," said Rick Frost, CEO of The Winnipeg Foundation. "This is another exemplary effort focused on a long term investment in our youth."    Anyone interested in supporting this initiative can visit The Winnipeg Foundation website at www.wpgfdn.org/wpsfund to make a donation toward the fund.
