UPDATE - ATTEMPT MURDER – ARREST   C13-263227 C13-265851 R14-0000114
As previously released -On December 22, 2013 at approximately 8:55 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to the area of the 400 block of Partridge Avenue regarding a motor vehicle collision.
 
Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a 23 year-old injured male inside a vehicle. It was determined that his injuries were consistent with being shot. He was transported from the scene in critical condition, later upgraded to stable condition.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate.
 
It has been determined that two male suspects attended to the area of Partridge Avenue for the purpose of a drug transaction. The suspects made contact with two other males in a vehicle when a firearm discharge took place, striking the driver occupant. The suspects fled at which time the victim's vehicle collided with several parked vehicles before it came to a stop. The injured male remained on scene while the passenger fled the area on foot.
 
During a separate incident, on December 27, 2013 at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Boyd Avenue regarding a residential robbery involving two suspects.
 
The suspects forced their way into the home at which time they confronted and assaulted two occupants, an adult male and female. The victims were robbed of cash and drugs. Their injuries were non-life threatening.
 
On January 2, 2014, members of the Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Air1 and the District 3 Community Support Unit, arrested one of the suspects in the area of Camile-Sys Street.
 
Tyler KOWAL, 26 years has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement in the both incidents:  
 
Attempt Murder x 2
Use of Firearm in the Commission of Offence
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Assault with a Weapon
Break and Enter to Commit Offence of Robbery
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 5
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Warrant for arrest x 4
Possess Controlled Substance
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
The investigation is on-going.
