VEHICLE ROBBERY UPDATE / ARREST - C10-30160
As previously released, on February 11th, 2010 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Uniform members were dispatched to the 2200 block of Pembina Highway regarding a vehicle robbery which had just taken place.
 
The investigation revealed that a 55 year old male victim was approached by a male suspect while parked in his vehicle. The suspect confronted the victim while in possession of a firearm and subsequently forced his way into the vehicle.
 
With the victim still in the vehicle, the suspect demanded property and proceeded to drive from the area.
 
The suspect drove the vehicle to a nearby parking lot where the victim was pepper sprayed to the upper body. It was at this time the victim fled from within the vehicle and the suspect drove off with an undisclosed amount of cash and other personal items.
 
The victim was conveyed to hospital and treated for his injuries.
 
The victim's vehicle was recovered in the area of the 1000 block of Markham Road.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crime Unit and with the assistance of Forensic Services a suspect was identified.
 
On Tuesday, October 8, 2013 Christopher Lee POTTINGER 36 years of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with numerous offences for his alleged involvement.
 
He has been detained in custody.
 
 
DRUG OFFENCE ARRESTS – C13-206112
On Tuesday, October 8, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to a residence in the 100 block of Quelch Street looking for a wanted suspect.
 
The wanted male was located and obvious signs of drug trafficking were noted within the residence.  Six people, including the wanted male were arrested without incident.
 
The residence was secured and officers applied for and were granted a Controlled Drug and Substances (CDSA) Search Warrant which resulted in the seizure of:

  • 15.2 grams of Crack Cocaine with an estimated street value of $1540.00
  • 77.2 grams of Marihuana with an estimated street value of $770.00
  • 61 tabs of Restoril valued at $91.50
  • 196 Tylenol 3 valued at $98.00
  • $3990.00 in Canadian Currency
  • Brass knuckles
  • Scales and other drug paraphernalia

Leon Edward VERMETTE 38 years of Winnipeg has been charged with several drug and weapons related offences for his alleged involvement.
 
Peter George SCOTT 28 years of Winnipeg has been charged with several drug, weapons & breach of court order related offences for his alleged involvement.        
 
Both were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
Four others, 3 females aged 21, 24 & 31 and a 43 year old male all from Winnipeg are facing several drug and weapons related charges for their alleged involvement.
 
All four were released via Promises to Appear.
 
 
THEFT UNDER ARRESTS – C13-205964
On October 8, 2013 shortly after 4:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the area of Rosehill Way and Petriw Bay for the report of a vehicle break-in.
 
Uniform members responded and flooded the area.  Canine was able to track and locate two suspects who were arrested without incident.
 
Investigation revealed that the two males had broken into four separate vehicles and two garages, stealing several items.
 
Kenneth CORMIER 18 years of Winnipeg has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre for his alleged involvement and charged with Theft Under x 4, Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence x 2, Possession Break In Instruments & Fail to Comply with Condition Undertaking.
 
A 16 year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with the same offences and was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
