WEAPONS ARRESTS – C13-212219
On Monday, October 14, 2013 members of the East District Crime Unit became involved in an investigation regarding multiple incidents.  They include:

  • October 12 - Damage to a Transit bus shelter in the area of Autumnwood Drive and Cottonwood Road estimated at $500.00.  R13-075065 refers.
  • October 13 - Damage to school property in the 1000 block of Cottonwood Road estimated at $1500.00. R13-075072 refers.
  • October 13 - Damage to school property in the 200 block of Speers Road estimated at $500.00.  R13-075070 refers.
  • October 13 - The detonation of an explosive device inside a dumpster in the 200 block of Dussault Avenue.  Damage estimated at approximately $200.00.  C13-210176 refers.
  • October 13 - The report of damage to a vehicle.  The 22 year old victim advised that at approximately 3:30 a.m. he had been sitting in his vehicle parked on Newcombe Crescent when a vehicle drove by.  One of the occupants shot at the victim's vehicle with a pellet gun, damaging a side window.  The vehicle sped off with the victim following.  The vehicle was followed to a dead end street where the suspect driver struck the victim's vehicle causing minor damage.  The licence plate of the suspect vehicle was obtained and police were notified. C13-210272 refers.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had been responsible for damage to multiple vehicles and bus shelters throughout the night of October 12/13.
 
Total damages are estimated at $24,000.00
 
On October 15, 2013 at approximately 1:30 p.m. one of the males responsible was located and arrested for his alleged involvement.  A 20-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Dangerous Operation – Motor Vehicle, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose & Mischief Under $5,000 x 20. 
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
On the evening of October 15, 2013 members of the East District Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Bomb Unit and uniformed officers, attended to the 1000 block of Baudoux Place and arrested a second involved male.  A search warrant was executed and the following was seized:

  • .22 calibre rifle
  • .303 calibre rifle
  • .22 calibre & .303 calibre ammunition
  • 7 pellet guns
  • Brass knuckles
  • One live explosive
  • One previously detonated explosive

For his alleged involvement, Dylon LOCKHART 18 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Explosives – Intent to cause explosion
  • Point Firearm
  • Discharge Air Gun or Pistol with Intent
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 2
  • Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition x 2
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 8
  • Explosives – Making or possessing substance with intent x 2
  • Mischief Under $5,000 x 20

He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit and further arrests are expected.
