PROSTITUTION INVESTIGATION – ARRESTS   R13-68343
In late September 2013, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit (C.E.U) commenced an investigation into the recruitment of vulnerable young female-adults coerced to work as escorts.
 
Between August and October 2013, it was determined that two male suspects had arranged for customers to attend local hotel rooms where sexual acts were performed by the recruited females, in exchange for an agreed upon amount of money.
 
The males subsequently received a portion of the proceeds as a result of these arranged escorts. 
 

On one occasion, one of the suspects confronted a female victim and assaulted her causing non-life threatening injuries.  
 
As a result of the investigation, the suspects were identified and arrested on October 1, 2013.
 
Andre MITCHELL, 42 years-old has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Living on Avails of Prostitution, Keeping Common Bawdy House, Assault with a Weapon and Breach Probation x 3.
 
Robert GOW, 28 years-oldhas been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Living on Avails of Prostitution, Keeping Common Bawdy House and Breach Probation x 2.
 
Both were detained.

FINANCIAL ROBBERY- UPDATE   C13-200063
As previously released -on Monday, September 30, 2013 shortly before 4:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a financial institution in the 200 block of Portage Avenue.
 
The investigation has revealed that a lone male suspect entered the business and confronted one of the employees. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and the suspect fled.
 
No one was injured during the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Caucasian with a fair complexion, 45-55 years old, 5'9" tall, approximately with an average build.  He was wearing khaki coloured pants and a distinctive red jacket with a broad white stripe running down each sleeve from shoulder to cuff. The male does wear glasses but they may only be for reading as he took them off prior to the robbery.
