CDSA WARRANT ARRESTS – C13-213293
Recently members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit became involved in a drug investigation.  As a result, a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) Search Warrant for a residence in the 500 block of Jubilee Avenue was applied for and granted.
 
On Thursday, October 17, 2013 at approximately 10:30 a.m. three suspects were arrested and taken into custody after leaving the residence.
 
At approximately 2:30 p.m. with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and Uniform members the warrant was executed.  No persons were located within the residence.
 
As a result of the arrests and search the following was seized:

  • Loaded .40 calibre semi-automatic handgun
  • 140 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $11,200.00
  • 15 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) with an estimated street value of $600.00
  • 2 caplets of MDMA (ecstasy) with an estimated street value of $20.00
  • 1 cap of hash oil with an estimated street value of $25.00
  • $4,235.00 in Canadian currency
  • Collapsible baton
  • Drug trafficking and packaging paraphernalia

Abdirahman Mohammed YAROW 22 years, Ruta TESFALIDET 23 years & Mouneer Mahboub MOHAMED 19 years all of Winnipeg have been charged with numerous weapon and drug related offences for their alleged involvement.
 
All three were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
ROBBERIES ARREST – C13-213696
Between September 10, 2013 and October 16, 2013 members of the District 3 Crime unit investigated the reports of 4 separate robberies.  They include:

  • Afternoon of September 10 – an 85 year old female victim was robbed of her purse in the 1200 block of Main Street.
  • Morning of October 14 – a 77 year old female victim was robbed of her purse in the area of Aberdeen Avenue and Main Street.  A witness chased the suspect and was able to recover the purse.
  • Evening of October 15 – a 71 year old female victim was robbed of her purse by an armed suspect in the 1200 block of Main Street (previously released).
  • Evening of October 16 – an armed suspect attempted to rob a 23 year old female of her purse in the area of Aberdeen Avenue and Aikins Street.  No property was obtained.

On October 17 shortly after 7:00 p.m. uniform members were dispatched for the report of a person robbery.  Information received was that a suspect unsuccessfully attempted to rob a 39 year old female of her purse.  The suspect was chased and caught by witnesses who were holding her for police.
 
Upon arrival responding officers took custody and arrested the suspect.
 
District 3 Crime Unit members continued with the investigation and as a result linked the suspect to the four previous incidents.
 
Lisa Henrietta PELLETIER 39 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery x 2, Robbery with Weapon x 2, Robbery with Violence and Breach of Probation for her alleged involvement.
 
She was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
STRONG-ARM ROBBERIES ARREST – C13-213230
On October 17, 2013 the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of two strong-arm robberies.
 
At approximately 1:20 a.m. a 19 year old male victim was robbed of personal belongings by an unknown armed male in the area of Salter Street and Stella Avenue.  The victim was not injured.
 
At approximately 3:10 a.m. two females, 13 & 18 years of age were outside their residence in the 1st 100 block of Grove Street when they were robbed of personal property by an armed male who is known to them.  Neither victim was injured.
 
At approximately 8:00 p.m. the suspect was observed and arrested by Division 11 uniform members in the area of Carlton Street and Qu'Appelle Avenue.
 
Members of the District 3 Crime Unit continued with the investigation.
 
A 15 year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with several robbery related offences for his alleged involvement and was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
