ARSON – C13-207637
On Thursday, October 10, 2013 shortly after 12:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the 400 block of Toronto Street for the report of a fire.
 
Attending officer arrived to find that members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service had a residential fire under control.
 
Early investigation has revealed that the fire originated in the kitchen of one of the suites.
 
No injuries were reported and the fire has been determined to be Arson.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
DRUG WARRANT ARRESTS – R13-072307
Recently, members of the Winnipeg Police Service's Marihuana Grow Operation unit became involved in a drug investigation regarding a residence in the 1st 100 block of Carmen Avenue.  As a result a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) Search Warrant was applied for and granted.
 
On Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at approximately 9:15 a.m. with the assistance of uniform members and the Tactical Support Team the warrant was executed.  A search of the residence resulted in the following seizures:

  • 15 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $16,800.00
  • 200 grams of dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $2,000.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $3,000.00
  • $2,263.00 in Canadian Currency

A 47 year old female and 48 year old male both of Winnipeg were arrested for their alleged involvement and are facing charges of Production of controlled substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUNA), Possessing substance for purposes of Trafficking - CANNABIS (MARIHUNA) & Possess Proceeds of Crime.
 
Both were released via Promises to Appear.
 
 
DRUG WARRANT ARREST – C13-207322
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service's Street Crime Unit recently became involved in drug investigation in the northwest part of the city.  The investigation led to the application and subsequent granting of a Controlled Drug and Substances Act Search Warrant for a residence in the 500 block of Jefferson Avenue.
 
On Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m. with the assistance of District 3 Community Support & Tactical Support Team members the warrant was executed.  A suspect was located within and arrested without incident.
 
The following was seized:

  • Various pills (10mg, 40mg & 80 mg) of Oxycontin with an estimated street value of $11,830.00
  • 10 grams of dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $150.00
  • Bear spray
  • Butterfly knife
  • $1735.00 in Canadian Currency

For his alleged involvement a 46 year old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking – OTHER, Possessing Controlled drug or substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Unauthorized Possession of Weapon x 2, Possess Proceeds of Crime.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
