ROBBERY ARRESTS – C13-204956
On Sunday, October 6, 2013 at approximately 7:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the area of Headmaster Row and Rothesay Street for the report of a person robbery.
 
Officers met with three female victims, 16, 19 & 20 years of age who advised that they had been set upon and robbed by a group of six girls.  As a result of the robbery all three victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.  Personal property was stolen and the suspects fled on foot.
 
A short time later the suspects were overheard talking about the robbery and police were contacted.  The six suspects were located together and arrested without incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit and as a result all six were charged with Robbery with Violence for their alleged involvement.
 
Four of the accused, two thirteen year olds and two fourteen year olds were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
 
The remaining two accused, both 15 years of age were released via Promises to Appear.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-205583
On Monday, October 7, 2013 shortly before 7:00 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1st 100 block of Hawstead Road for the report of a fire.
 
Responding officers arrived to find members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services battling a fire involving two neighbouring properties.
 
Occupants of both homes had exited without injury.
 
Damage to the one residence is estimated $150,000.00.  Damage to the second residence is estimated at $5,000.00.
 
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C13-205782
On Monday, October 7, 2013 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a gas bar in the 1100 block of Nairn Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Attending members met with the 20 year old attendant who advised that a customer had attended to the door and was allowed entry.  Once inside the unknown male produced a weapon, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and lottery tickets after which he fled on foot.
 
The clerk was not injured during the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 25-30 years of age, 5'7" tall with a large build.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
STABBING ARREST – C13-205839
On Monday, October 7, 2013 at approximately 11:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of William Avenue for the report of a stabbing.
 
Responding members located a 29 year old male victim suffering from stab wounds to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in unstable condition.  A suspect was located and arrested without incident.
 
It was learned that several people had been socializing in the residence when a dispute over beer escalated to the point where the suspect armed himself with a knife and proceeded to stab the victim.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit and is on-going.
 
A 51 year old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Breach of Probation for his alleged involvement.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-205944
On Tuesday, October 8, 2013 shortly after 2:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 700 block of McMillan Avenue for the report of a break & enter.
 
Upon arrival members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services were found to be fighting a fire.  Officers met with the homeowner who advised that he had been awoken by noises coming from the upstairs vacant suite.  Upon checking, he observed a person running out the back and then discovered that there was a fire in the suite.
 
There were no injuries and damage is estimated at $250,000.00 - $300,000.00.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
