FRAUD - ARRESTS   R13-22851
In April 2013, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Commercial Crime Unit became involved in an investigation regarding the sale of forged Winnipeg Transit bus passes.
 
The investigation was initiated due to an increase in the number of forged bus passes being identified and seized by transit personnel. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service were subsequently notified.
 
A genuine Winnipeg Transit bus pass is characterized by an alphanumeric code in which there is a number used to designate the month (1 to 12) and an adult full fare bus pass is signified by a letter "F" for full fare. This alphanumeric code is in holographic material on the bus pass.  Each bus pass also contains a unique serial number.

During the investigation numerous people were arrested and interviewed for using the forged passes.
 
Investigators also identified three suspects who were involved in the trafficking of these fraudulent passes.  
 
A 29 year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges: Trafficking & Possession of Forged Documents.
 
A 56 year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charge: Possess Forged Document.
 
A 55 year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges: Possess Forged Document & Trafficking Forged Document.
 
They were released on a Promise to Appear.  
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY   C13-15865
On October 20, 2013 at approximately 2:50 p.m., officers responded to a robbery incident at a gas bar located in the 200 block of Madison Street.
 
An unknown male entered the business and confronted a 17 year old male employee. The suspect demanded cash and cigarettes and fled with an undisclosed amount. He was last seen on a mountain bike travelling northbound toward Silver Avenue.
 
The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.
 
The male suspect is described as:
 
Caucasian
20-30 years of age
5'10" tall
180 lbs.
 
No arrest has been made at this time.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit have been notified and continue to investigate. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
