COMMERCIAL BREAK & ENTER ARRESTS – C13-134187
Between July 5 & 8, 2013 the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of three commercial break and enters.

On July 5 shortly after 5:00 a.m. a restaurant in the 2300 block of Ness Avenue was broken into.  Merchandise valued at approximately $160.00 was stolen and a window valued at $100.00 was damaged.

On July 7 at approximately 3:00 a.m. a business in the 2300 block of Ness Avenue was broken into.  Merchandise valued at approximately $50.00 was stolen and a window valued at $500.00 was damaged.

On July 8 at approximately 12:30 a.m. a gas bar in the 3400 block of Roblin Boulevard was broken into resulting in $1000.00 damage to a window.  Merchandise valued at approximately $300.00 was stolen.  Several units converged on the area and with the assistance of the Canine Unit six males were arrested without incident.

Members of the District 2 Crime Unit continued with the investigation and as a result:

A 17-year-old youth from Winnipeg has been detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre and charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence x 2, Possession of Firearms, etc while Prohibited & Fail to Comply with Condition Undertaking x 3.  He was also processed on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest - Fail to Comply with Condition Undertaking x 2.

The five 15-year-old youths, all of Winnipeg were released via Promises to Appear and are facing multiple Break & Enter charges.


FIRE – C13-134275
On Monday, July 8, 2013 at approximately 3:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of McKenzie Street for the report of a vehicle fire.

Responding members arrived to find that members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service had extinguished a fire involving two vehicles that had been parked on the street.

No damage estimate is available.

Investigating officers learned that a person had been seen around the vehicles immediately prior to the fire.

The suspect is described as: male, 5'4" in height with a skinny build wearing a baggy white t-shirt and dark pants.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
