SUDDEN DEATH INVESTIGATION – C13-143728
On July 20, 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency responders attended to a residence located in the first 100 block of Bondar Bay regarding an unresponsive male.
 
A 19 year-old male was transported from the scene and has since been pronounced deceased.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that the victim and another male, while in an intoxicated state engaged in a mutually agreed upon physical altercation. At the conclusion of the fight, the victim was taken home.
 
The following day the victim was located unresponsive at which time emergency responders were notified.
 
Due to the nature of the event, members of the Homicide Unit were notified and continue to investigate with the assistance of Patrol members, Forensic Identification Section and Cadets.
 
A male suspect has been identified however charges are pending the results of a post-mortem.
 
The investigation is on-going.  
 

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY – ARRESTS C13-143874
On July 20, 2013 at approximately 5:55 p.m., officers were patrolling in the area of the 1000 block of Main Street when they were flagged down regarding a robbery incident that just occurred.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 26 year old female victim had just purchased a quantity of liquor and was standing outside a business when she was confronted. One of the female suspects initially requested a cigarette while a second female suspect physically assaulted the victim. It was at this time the suspects attempted to rob the victim of her property.
 
A passer-by assisted the victim and the suspects fled the area on foot. Officers were advised that the suspects were still in the area.
 
The suspects were located, arrested and taken into custody a short time later in the area of Main Street and Selkirk Avenue.
 
Tia HUDSON, 18 years-old and Maxine CARPENTER, 28 years-old have been charged with Robbery with Theft and detained due to their alleged involvement.
