ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER – ARRESTS C13-129446
On July 1, 2013 at approximately 11:30 p.m., in the area of the Forks, Patrol members were summoned to an incident where a male and female not known to each other became involved in an altercation.

The investigation has revealed that as thousands of people were leaving the area at the conclusion of the Canada Day celebrations, a female operating a Pontiac Sunfire collided with a young child causing no injury. The father of the child became upset at which time the female proceeded to drive her car into him multiple times attempting to push him out of the way. Again, no injuries were sustained.

Attending members instructed the female to pull her vehicle off to the side of the road repeatedly, which she refused. Due to the heavy pedestrian traffic, the female was unable to proceed any further. It was at this time officers requested that she turn off the ignition to her vehicle for public safety reasons, again she refused.

As a result of the circumstances presented, one of the officers reached into the vehicle turning the ignition off. While doing so, the female proceeded to bite the officer causing an injury.

The female was removed from the vehicle and arrested. A second female occupant attempted to prevent officers from performing their duties. She was also removed and arrested.

A 20 year-old female is facing the following charges: Assault a Peace Officer, HTA - As a driver, fail to stop and remain stopped when signalled by a peace officer, HTA – Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars.

A 17 year-old female is facing the following charge: Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer.

Both were released.
