NATIONAL TIP LINE CLOSES
In June 2012, a National Tip Line was created to assist investigators with the gathering of information in relation to the arrest of Shawn Cameron LAMB and on-going homicide investigations.
 
Later today, the national tip line will close.  The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit continues to co-ordinate this investigation.
 
If anyone has information to share with police regarding this matter, they are asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
The Winnipeg Police Service appreciates the support of the public during this challenging investigation.
 
 
FIREARM SEEN/SUSPECTED – C13-032376
On Sunday, February 17, 2013 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the 500 block of Alexander Avenue for the report of the sounds of shots.
 
Responding members located damage to the home consistent with that of having been from a firearm.
 
No one was injured.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
STABBING – C13-033111
On Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 600 block of Alverstone Street for the report of a stabbing.
 
Upon arrival, officers located several people in and around the residence. 
 
Investigation revealed that a party had been full swing when a male armed himself with a knife and proceeded to stab an 18 year old male in the upper body.  The accused was then injured himself as he tried to leave the residence through a broken window.  Both were transported to hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable.  The victim has since been released.
 
The investigation continues by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
A 24 year old male from Winnipegis in police custody and is facing several charges.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-033518
On Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at approximately 2:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 400 block of Jubilee Avenue for the report of a working fire.
 
The four residents were able to exit the home safely and the fire appears accidental in nature.
 
Total damage is estimated at $160,000.00.
 
 
MISCHIEF AND THEFT UNDER ARREST – R13-009303
As reported in the media earlier this month, a homeowner who resides in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue had video surveillance of his vehicle being damaged and property stolen.  The incidents, which occurred on January 23, 2013 and February 6, 2013, were reported to police and the surveillance video was provided.
 
Members of the Division 13 Crime Unit investigated the matter.  A male suspect was linked to two other incidents that had occurred on February 6, 2013 in the 400 block of Magnus Avenue and 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.
 
On Thursday, February 14, 2013 investigators located and arrested a 13 year old male from Winnipeg.  He was released via a Promise to Appear and is facing charges of Mischief Under $5000.00 x 2 and Theft Under $5000.00 x 2.
