PARTNERSHIP WITH 4LIFE FOUNDATION

The 4Life Foundation is a non-profit charity working to make a difference in Canadian neighbourhoods by providing opportunities for at-risk youth through sport, education, music and dance. Their mission statement consists of the following:

  • To identify and fulfill the needs of the community
  • To build relationships between individuals and groups
  • To promote education in various capacities
  • To provide a positive environment for personnel and social growth and development

A significant component of crime prevention through social development ensures that our future leaders are provided with the tools and role models that promote success. The Winnipeg Police Service is dedicated to playing an integral part in supporting our children and youth.

The Winnipeg Police Service, City of Winnipeg Community Services Department, Central Neighborhoods Development Corporation, as well as the administration and staff of numerous schools located in the heart of our city are excited to announce this partnership with the 4Life Foundation.

The 4Life Foundation has a proven track record for engaging and mentoring children and youth from elementary to high school levels, with a goal of prevention in areas of criminal activity and association with street gangs. 4Life will be an additional tool used to enhance the exceptional work that is currently being done in our communities and schools.

Two Winnipeg Blue Bomber players have joined the 4Life staff to help run school lunch sports programs. These programs will initially include basketball and ball hockey at Dufferin School, William Whyte Community School, David Livingstone Community School, Hugh John Macdonald Junior High, R.B. Russel Vocational High School, and St. John's High School.

The Bomber players will be joined by Winnipeg Police Service officers, cadets and educators while providing a consistent mentoring network to engage and lead our youth as they transition through the educational system.
