Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Sunday, February 17, 2013     DRUG ARRESTS – C13-030676 During the past six months members of the East District Community Support Unit, East District General Patrol and Manitoba Justice Safer Neighbourhoods have been conducting an investigation into drug traffickers operating in the East District Area (St Vital, Transcona, North Kildonan and East Kildonan).  During this six month period police executed 12 search warrants and arrested 20 persons related to the trafficking of controlled substances.    On February 14, 2013 this investigation culminated with the executions of two search warrants.  With the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit police executed search warrants in the 200 block of Emerson Avenue and the 400 block of Shorehill Drive in Winnipeg.  A male and female were arrested.   As a result of these two searches police seized:  Cocaine Marijuana (2) canisters of Pepper spray and a collapsible baton $240,000 Canadian Currency $19,500 of property related to Proceeds of Crime   A 27 year old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of: Possess Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possess Controlled Substance, Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x3, Possess Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.00 and Possess Proceeds of Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking.    A 22 year old female of Lockport, Mb is facing charges of: Possess Proceeds of Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possess Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.00.    Both were released via Promises to Appear with Conditions of an Undertaking.    For further information contact either: Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Constable Eric Hofley, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
