Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

11:00 a.m.
 
 
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION     C12-26855
On February 13th, 2012 just before 2:30 p.m. emergency services responders were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that had occurred at the intersection of Jubliee Avenue and Osborne Street.   
 
At this stage in the investigation, officers have learned that an elderly female pedestrian had attempted to cross eastbound Osborne Street in front of a dump truck that was proceeding southbound on Osborne Street.
 
Charges are not pending against the driver of the truck.
 
This investigation is ongoing by members of the Central Traffic Unit and notification efforts are ongoing at this time. The victim's name will not be released. 
 
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION                           C12-27221
On February 14th, 2012 at approximately 1:40 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were dispatched to a hotel within the 1400 block of St Matthews Avenue for an assault incident. 
 
Upon arrival officers located two injured adult males.  One male was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.  A second male was also transported to the hospital in stable condition. 
 
A number of individuals are being interviewed at this time.   
 
This investigation is ongoing at this time.  Anyone who has information regarding this incident is asked to Homicide Unit investigators at 986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).  
 
  
SUDDEN DEATH INVESTIGATION               C12-27082
On February 13th, 2012 at approximately 10:30 p.m. emergency services responders were dispatched to a hotel in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue for a report of a sudden death.  A 49 year old female was located deceased within a suite. 
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit are continuing with this investigation.  No further information is available at this time.
