Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

STOLEN VEHICLE – IMPAIRED DRIVING ARREST C12-25361
Sometime on February 10, 2012, a silver 2004 Hyundai Sonata was stolen from the area of the 500 block of Jefferson Avenue by a lone male suspect.
 
At approximately 10:15 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service members observed the previously stolen vehicle containing several occupants in the area of McPhillips Street and Mountain Avenue, at which time a traffic stop was attempted. The driver accelerated and fled from police at a high rate of speed having no regard for public safety. Due to the suspect's manner of driving, the stolen vehicle collided with a 2006 Pontiac G5 at the intersection of McPhillips Street and Inkster Boulevard. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
 
The two occupants of the Pontiac G5 sustained minor injuries.
 
The stolen vehicle came to rest in the area of the 2400 block of McPhillips Street when all of the occupants fled the area on foot.
 
Due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol members and the Canine Unit, all suspects were located and taken into custody.
 
A 24 year old male is facing the following charges: Motor Vehicle Theft Over $5000.00, Impaired Driving, Flight from Police Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Breach Probation x 3, including several Highway Traffic Act offences.
 
A 23 year old female is facing a charge of Breach of Probation.
 
Both have since been detained.
 
A 19 year old male and 20 year old male were also processed regarding unrelated matters.
