ARSON ARREST C12-14919
On January 25, 2012, at approximately 9:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service, while travelling in the area of the 700 block of Maryland Street observed a working fire at an apartment block.
 
The building was evacuated and no serious injuries were reported. As a result of the incident, the building sustained approximately $50,000.00 in damage.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Arson Strike Force.
 
The investigation has revealed that the fire was deliberately set as a result of a dispute between the suspect and one of the occupants.
 
On February 16, 2012, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Arson Strike Force members located and arrested a 33 year old female, Lori Ann MAURICE due to her alleged involvement.
 
She has been charged with:
 
·        Arson – Damage to Property
·        Arson – Disregard for Human Life
 
She was detained.
 
 
DRUG ARREST – C12-28063
On February 17, 2012, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the District 3 Community Support Unit, along with the Province – Safer Neighbourhoods, with the assistance of uniform patrol members and the Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Lorne Avenue.
 
Due to collaborative efforts, several individuals were located and safely removed from the residence. A search of the home commenced which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of crack cocaine, Canadian currency, including a variety of miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.
  
A 32 year old female, Ingrid Holly SEVERIGHT has been charged with the following:
 
·        Possessing Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (Cocaine)
·        Possess Proceeds of Crime
 
She was detained.
 
 
SHOT(S) – DAMAGE TO PROPERTY C12-29892
On February 18, 2012, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Portage Avenue regarding reports of a shot(s) call.
 
The investigation has revealed that the glass to a front door of a business was smashed. No injuries have been reported.
 
No firearm was located, however evidence to support that a firearm discharge may have taken place was observed by attending members.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-29927
On February 18, 2012, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a commercial robbery incident at a convenience store located in the 1300 block of Main Street.  
 
It was discovered that two male suspects armed with knives entered the business. Both males approached the counter demanding money from a 44 year old male clerk. As a result, an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were obtained.
 
No one was injured during the incident and the suspects fled the area.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
·        Males, Caucasian, 18-20 years of age
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
