SAFER INTERNET DAY 2012
On February 7th, 2012, countries around the world will be promoting safer and more responsible use of the online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people.

In Canada, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection has created a unique, one-stop internet safety website- The Door that's Not Locked- to help parents, teachers and anyone else with children in their lives learn about ways to keep kids safe on the internet.

The Winnipeg Police Service supports this initiative and would like to remind parents to continuously monitor their children's on-line activities and report suspicious incidents to police.

For further tips on internet safety refer to the Winnipeg Police Service web page at http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/TakeAction/internet_safety.stm

If you know of a child who is in immediate risk, call 911. Suspicious activity should be reported to police by calling the Winnipeg Police Service non-emergency line or anonymously through Cybertip at www.cybertip.ca or toll free at 1-866-658-9022.
